Organizations & Groups
Welcome Christabel to your audience.
Keynotes, workshops, panels, and readings for libraries, universities, literary festivals, and organizations of all kinds.
What Christabel offers
Christabel is a dynamic speaker, teacher, and facilitator — keeping her audiences engaged, entertained, and thinking.
Keynote Speaking
Whether you need a keynote to ignite the room at the opening or send attendees home with ideas worth keeping — Christabel sets the tone, holds the energy, and leaves an audience thinking. Flexible on format, comfortable on any stage, and happy to follow up with written responses to audience questions within a few days.
The Feedback Loop
Collaborative dialogue workshop — what writing workshops teach about giving and receiving feedback with honesty, care, and without drama. Participants leave trusting each other, going deeper, and wanting to come back. Transferable to any team that does creative or collaborative work.
Ready to Restart
For writers who have a story they started and couldn’t finish alone; a space to share writing, receive skilled feedback, and revitalize the manuscript you’ve been carrying around. You have pages somewhere. Christabel helps you find where you left off — and keep going.
Keynote Speaking
Talks on historical memoir, cross-cultural identity, and the political lives of ordinary people — for literary festivals, conferences, and institutional events.
Library Programs
Author readings, Q&A sessions, and facilitated discussions for public library audiences — drawing on years of programming with San Mateo County Libraries. Christabel also founded the Woodside Writers group in December 2018, which she moderated for four years.
Writing Workshop
Extended craft sessions in memoir and narrative non-fiction — 2-hour series, half-day, or retreat format — for community groups, academic settings, or international engagements. Christabel also works with organizations to build lasting writing and feedback groups — for teams, libraries, or ongoing programs.
University Lecture
Interactive and dynamic guest lectures for courses in history, creative writing, memoir, Asian studies, and international relations — in person or via video.
Book Club
An author conversation for book clubs reading Rice Paper Window — in person (Bay Area), via video, or by arrangement farther afield.
Corporate Storytelling
Workshops on authentic personal narrative for organizations — how storytelling builds connection, trust, and meaning across teams.
Panel Appearance
Moderated conversations and panels on memoir, Korean history, women traveling alone, and democracy movements of the late 20th century.
ESL / English Language Teaching
TEFL certified, with teaching experience in Korea, France, and the US. Christabel’s approach is guided, tailored, and fluency-focused — built around the student’s actual interests, needs, and goals. Her use of writing, humor, and real-world context replaces grammar drills. She believes that enjoying what you learn helps you learn it faster.
Christa brings us into a unique and enigmatic world of contradictions — thoughtful vignettes of her endeavors to bridge, understand, and reflect on cultural interactions during a pivotal period in Korea’s democratization. Reader who lived in Korea · Salisbury University, Dept. of History
